BILL ARCHER

  • Bill lives in Traverse City, Michigan with his wife Karen. They have two sons and one beautiful grandson. Bill enjoys playing golf and watching basketball, especially is alma mater – GO SPARTANS! Bill spent most of his professional career at Edward Jones where he assisted families achieve financial goals and mentored many other Edward Jones offices. Throughout his life he has been apart of communities as Rotary Presidents, Chamber of Commerce President and coached many different teams like baseball, basketball and golf. When it came time to find members to join our board here at Legacy Aviation Learning Center our friend Bill was an easy choice. 

BILL DONBERG

  • Bill Donberg received a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from Ohio State University. Following graduation, he began a 30-year career at The Dow Chemical Company retiring in 2000. At Dow he managed global businesses in engineering plastics and adhesives, sealants and coatings. At the same time Bill continued to pursue his passion to fly by acquiring flight certifications in multi and single engine land and sea aircraft as well as his flight instructor certifications. Following his time with Dow, Donberg joined the Aviation Division of Northwestern Michigan College where he served as interim director during the reorganization of the division. He served as Senior Flight Instructor there for over 20 years. During that time, Donberg co-founded and successfully sold Aetos Corp, an early entry into the drone inspection industry. He is involved in multiple non-profit/ service organizations in Haiti, Honduras and Africa. He serves on the Boards of Northwestern Michigan College, the Elk Rapids District Library, Legacy Aviation Learning Center and the Elk Rapids Rotary Club. Donberg lives in Elk Rapids, Michigan with his wife Phyllis. He has 3 children and 4 grandchildren.

dr. sean gallagan

  • Dr. Sean Gallagan is an aviation workforce subject matter expert who provides aviation professionals, aviation companies, and educational & (non-)governmental organizations services to grow their business through feasibility and needs assessment studies, workforce acquisition & retention, and training development & implementation.  Prior to becoming a consultant, he served as the Associate Dean overseeing transportation programs at Broward College, including aviation, marine, automotive, and industrial technology and Principal/Director of George T. Baker Aviation Technical College – the largest FAA Part 147 public training institute in the SE United States. He has dedicated over 30 years to public education and is a highly motivated and results driven professional with over 20 years of progressive leadership and management experience. Skilled in numerous academic and business fields including education, technology, aviation (Part 65, 141, 147), career and technical education, workforce education, with expertise in organizational, time and project management, goal setting, relationship building, data driven decision making, handling complex task, and program/course development.  He has implemented numerous programs including career dual enrollment, short term training programs, industry/company specific, online courses, and the start-up and operations of aviation maintenance programs.  He received his Ph.D. from Barry University, Master’s from Nova Southeastern, and his Bachelor’s from FIU. As a result of his expertise, he regularly speaks at conferences, both domestically and internationally.  He currently serves on various boards and committees including the Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC) – BOD and chair of the regulatory committee, National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) – Maintenance / Workforce Subcommittee, Business Aircraft Records Foundation, South Florida Business Aviation Association (SFBAA) Education Committee, and numerous aviation program advisory committees.

DAVID C. CLOUTIER

  • Constellation Aviation Solutions is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDOVSB). Experienced Chief Executive Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the airlines/aviation industry.  Skilled in Negotiation, Requirements Analysis, Government, Airports, and Commercial Aviation. Strong business development professional and entrepreneur with a M.S. focused in Aeronautical Science / Management & Safety from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU).Non-Profit Management experience includes Vice President for the International Board of Directors at The Delta Chi Educational Foundation, and President of the Alumni Board of Trustees at The Delta Chi Chapter of Embry-Riddle, ABT President at the North Georgia College Chapter, and a Director on ERAU’s Delta Chi House Corporation.  He is a Board Director helping establish Governance on the Hub on Canal, a non-profit that encourages art in the city of New Smyrna Beach, FL, promoting art workshops and establishing galleries. David’s connection to Legacy Aviation Learning Center is both professional and personal.  Throughout his professional life David has been dedicated towards advancing careers in aviation.  Indeed, this was his top priority as President of the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Alumni Association in Washington, D.C. (one of the largest associations in the U.S.)  

DAN JONKHOFF

  • Dan graduated from Wayne State University in 1976. Dan started his career in funeral service at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in 1977. Dan’s interest in aviation began in 1977 where he earned his private pilot’s license while working alongside his father at the funeral home. He has flown for business and personal reasons for over three thousand hours. He has owned five airplanes over the years, and currently owns and pilots a Piper Seneca II and a 1946 Ercoupe. Dan has been flying for 47 years and will continue until someone tells him he cannot. Dan has a special relationship with his airplane mechanic over the years which has now extended to him being a founder of Legacy Aviation Learning Center. Traverse City’s own A&P Mechanic Education Center. Dan is now President of the Board of Directors of Legacy Aviation Learning Center. He also is the Grand Traverse County Representative on the Northwest Regional Airport Authority . He has previously served as the Munson Hospice Advisor and the Traverse City Golf and Country Club Board of Directors. He lives in Traverse City, Michigan with his wife Peg Jonkhoff where they are members of First Congregational Church and active members of the Traverse City Country Club. 

    Tim Kissel - Tim is a second-generation aircraft mechanic who has been in the aviation industry since 1989 where he attended Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana. Tim graduated Vincennes University with Cum Laude honors earning an Associate of Science Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology along with obtaining his Airframe and Powerplant Certificate in 1991. Tim, then, attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, from 1991 to 1993 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation Technology/Electronics. Tim has experience working on general aviation aircraft, including helicopters while he worked for Purdue University and the Indiana State Police. A start up airline, United Feeder Service operating as United Express, allowed Tim to help bring the fledgling commuter airline into existence and work as a mechanic and inspector during that time. Tim’s desire to work on larger aircraft drove him to work for American International Airways in Oscoda, Michigan, to overhaul landing gear and work line maintenance. After moving to the Detroit area, Tim also worked for Spirit and Northwest Airlines before working for an Aviation Maintenance Technician School, MIAT College of Technology. At MIAT Tim instructed courses in all disciplines before serving as the Assistant Director of Training, Director of Training, and ultimately the Vice President of Education. With the desire to return to actively working on aircraft, Tim joined Kalitta Air LLC as the Maintenance Control Manager in 2015, being promoted to the Director of Maintenance in 2019.Tim is an Eagle Scout and has enjoyed volunteering for a variety of organizations including school parent teacher organizations, recreational soccer coach and referee, Belleville Fire Auxiliary, and Experimental Sounding Rocket Association. Tim enjoys working with people to improve problem solving skills, troubleshooting, and ultimately defining and achieving success.  Servant leadership is a primary motivation for Tim. Outside of aviation, Tim enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, gardening, and amateur rocketry as a member of the National Association of Rocketry and Tripoli Rocket Association. Tim is excited to bring knowledge and experience to the Legacy Aviation Board of Directors to positively impact the shortage of Aircraft Mechanics that the aviation industry currently is facing.

MATT GOLBA

  • Matt Golba is an aviation enthusiast and has been a pilot since his mid-twenties. Matt is a 2007 graduate of Michigan State University. He is the founder of Stonepath Wealth Management where he serves as Chief Executive Officer and Financial Advisor. His passion for aviation along with being a successful entrepreneur led Matt and his wife Lauren to partner with fellow co-founders Dan and Peg Jonkhoff on securing the building needed to make the vision of Legacy Aviation Learning Center a reality. By lending his financial expertise, business skills and connections in the aviation community, Matt’s goal is to be a part of a positive and lasting impact on the aviation industry and the Northern Michigan community through the lives touched by Legacy Aviation Learning Center. Matt is also an avid outdoorsman and is passionate about hunting and fishing and making lasting memories with his family and friends in the outdoors.

TIM KISSEL

TODD TETZLAFF

  • Born in Green Bay, WI, and raised in a nearby farming community, Todd has had an aviation interest since early on. He was active in Civil Air Patrol and learned to fly while still in high school. He went on to receive a BS in Aircraft Engineering Technology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and started his engineering career at Enstrom Helicopter in Menominee, MI in 1991. He then joined Gulfstream in Savannah, GA during the development of the GV. In the late 1990s he spent time in the Air Capital (Wichita), working as an engineer at both Boeing and Raytheon Aircraft (Hawker-Beech). Todd moved on to Gulfstream’s completion center in Appleton, WI. After two years he received an invitation to lead Enstrom’s flight test department, where he performed both flight test engineering and piloting duties for seven years. Back to Gulfstream again, this time spending 10 years in Appleton followed by five years in Savannah, GA in certification roles of ever-increasing responsibility. While there he coordinated and published numerous ODA process improvements and standardized methods of compliance across Gulfstream’s engineering organizations. He also served as Gulfstream’s industry representative to the Certification Authorities for Transport Airplanes (CATA). Todd is a dual rated pilot (PPL-A, CPL-H), has served as an air safety investigator, and held FAA engineering designee authorities for over 20 years in both flight analyst and structures disciplines. He recently completed a graduate certificate program in Airworthiness Engineering from Embry-Riddle. Todd represents Enstrom on the General Aviation Manufacturer’s Association (GAMA) board of directors, serves as the vice chair of GAMA’s Rotorcraft Subcommittee, and is also a member of its Technical Policy Committee. He and his wife Lissette have been married 32 years and have three grown children.

PETER LANE

  • The President and CEO of the start-up non-profit aviation maintenance technician school, Legacy Aviation Learning Center, is responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to the organization. This role involves executive leadership and organizational management, board development and governance, fundraising development, financial management and administration, external relations and communications, admissions strategy and implementation, accreditation, and building a team of instructors and administrative support. The President and CEO will ensure the organization's mission is achieved while fostering a culture of excellence and sustainability.
